Endoscopic dilation of ductal strictures can be performed with the endoscope itself (without or with the aid of a Seldinger guide wire) or with a balloon dilator. Care must be taken with the associated fibrotic tissue, because of the risk of incurring a false passage or via falsa. An intraductal tutor or stent can be placed, trying to keep it in place for 7-21 days. Postoperative intraductal corticosteroid instillation is associated with better final results in terms of reduced episodes of glandular swelling and improved quality of life.
